What We Do
The mission of the Crawford County Sheriff's Department is to provide the highest level of professional law enforcement service to the citizens of Crawford County.

We are committed to public safety by preserving the peace, and preventing crimes while protecting the constitutional rights of all those we serve. We perform our duties with compassion and integrity, while maintaining high ethical and moral conduct at all times.

We will establish a reputation for responsiveness, competency, decisiveness and equality, which will inspire confidence in the Sheriff's Department for all residents of Crawford County.

About Sheriff Ron Brown

  • In June of 1985, Sheriff Brown began his career in public service as an EMT for the Crawford County Ambulance service.
  • He began his Law Enforcement career in 1989 with the Alma Police Department. He held many positions there; Patrol Officer, Investigator, and, was the first School Resource Officer for the Alma Public School District. He remained with the Alma Police Department until he joined the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department as Chief Deputy on 01-01-05.
  • He stayed in the position of Chief Deputy until elected Sheriff in the fall of 2010. He was sworn-in as Crawford County Sheriff on 01-01-11, and is currently serving his 5th term.
  • He began working for the Alma Fire Department in 1992, and retired his position there after 25 years of service.
  • Married to Darla, they are the parents of 4 adult children, 2 girls and 2 boys. They have 5 Granddaughters.
  • Sheriff is very proud to be a public servant to the Citizens of Crawford County since June of 1985.
